Poly vinyl acetate is hydrolysed to poly vinyl alcohol.
Note that poly vinyl alcohol cannot be made by polymerising "vinyl alcohol" directly. The compound "vinyl alcohol" does not exist as it will enol-keto tautomerise to acetaldehyde.Industrial Organic Chemistry, 3rd. Ed. K. Weissermel, H.-J. Arpe, VCH (1997)
