Toxic, flammable, explosive, carcinogenic yellow gas. Useful methylating agent but potentially very nasty stuff. Diazomethane is usually prepared as required from a precursor material such as Diazald¨ (N-methyl -N-nitroso -p-toluene sulfonamide) which is commercially available.
