Peroxodisulfate(VI) ion is reduced by iron(II) ion to give sulfate and iron(III).

This reaction is one of the catalytic steps of the reaction of peroxodisulfate(VI) ion with iodide ion to give sulfate ion and iodine, catalysed by iron(II) ions.
