The equilibrium reaction between hydrogen and nitrogen to give ammonia catalysed by iron, the Haber ammonia synthesis, is a much studied and important process.

There are 4 moles on the left and two on the right, therefore the production of ammonia is favored by high pressure. However, the negative enthalpy of reaction, -92 kJ/mol, shows the reaction to be exothermic and high yield of ammonia is favoured by low temperatures.
